Theo Binsted, Staff Writer
Theo Michael Binsted is an aspiring writer, musician, theatre-enthusiast, and bookworm here in grade eleven at KSS. Since a young age, he has been interested in the arts and the people behind the craft. In the hopes of becoming a playwright and musical composer in the near future, he spends a lot of his spare time writing illegible notes in his books, analyzing musicals, and humming melodies to himself. Apart from reading obnoxiously long books and writing, Theo also sings and plays the guitar, cello, ukulele, and piano. If he does not have his nose buried in a book, he’ll be found watching The Big Bang Theory; he personally relates to Leonard. He hopes to attend UBC to pursue writing theatre professionally and intends to move to New York after he’s done his time in Vancouver post-graduation. Given the chance, he would meet Lin-Manuel Miranda, the world-renowned composer and playwright behind Broadway’s In The Heights, Hamilton, and Disney’s Moana. He enjoys listening to the works of not only Lin-Manuel Miranda, but Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Jason Robert Brown, among others. Theo has a constantly growing collection of novels, and you could say he spends at least 80% of his saved money on new books. He hopes to improve his writing and editing skills throughout his high school career and into the future.
